Subject Update : Water Pressure
Message

Dear Resident:

Dirk and Andre inspected the pumps with representatives of the municipality, a pump contractor and an electrician this morning.

Background:
For those that do not know , the two pumps (2 x 75KW) were installed by Lebra and some other developers +- 2 years ago at a cost of +-MR1.0 to improve the pressure that our line gets from the main Rand water connection. The instalation was signed of by the Consultants and handed over to KLM.

The technical representatives of KLM ( Engineers which were only deployed to the Municipality a couple of weeks ago by DBSA to assist with planning and maintainnace) were totally unaware of the pumps , and has no maintainance records. As a matter of fact the KLM pump technician stated that they cannot support such large pumps!

Clearly there are a major problem within the KLM service delivery process which needs to be resolved. Once the crises is over the Board will engade the KLM to se how it can be done, taking cognisance of teh fact that we cant expose the HOA to financial risks should anything go wrong at teh instalation and the fingers are pointed to us.

The Primary pump is leaking water and has two of its 4 Drive belts are broken. There may be electrical damage due to the fact that the pump is partially submerged. The standby pump did not want to start up and an electrician will look at it today, it will however need 4 drive belts as the belts were used to fix the promary pump that broke 3 weeks ago and have not yet been replaced.

Actions:

1. The Verresig HOA has approved R5000 from our funds to effect emergency repairs - this will be deducted from the Water provision we have in our books due to under invoicing of bulk water by the Council.- this repairs may however take a few days.

2. As an Emergency measure, Andre will reinstall the spare inline pump that we initially had feeding the emergency water from the water tanks where the store is currently.

3. This pump is not very strong and the flow rate may not be sufficient, therefore untill further notice, PLEASE DO NOT water gardens with municipal water between 6am and 10pm . This will lower the pressure and will just steal the water from your neighbour's showers. USE water sparingly.

4. Once the crises is resolved, the Board will engage with the KLM to look at a long term support strategy and will use our KWA membership to support us. It there are anybody in the estate that has the technical skills and time to assist please contact Dirk/Bertus.

5. Please refrain on taking out your frustrations on Andre and the other board members, everyone is doing what they can within the constraints. It is not helpful and just diverts the focus away from solving the problem. If you feel passionate about taking on the KLM to resolve the problem , put up your hand and come help, it is much more effective than abusive emails

Will keep you updated

Regards
